AFR interim department head Sinfree Makoni co-authors new books
Dr. Sinfree Makoni, interim director of African Studies and professor of Applied Linguistics and African Studies, has co-authored two books recently: Innovations and Challenges in Applied Linguistics from the Global South (Routledge, 2020), with Alastair Pennycook, and Integrational Linguistics and Philosophy of Language in the Global South (Routledge, 2021), with Penn State’s Deryn Verity and Anna Kaiper-Marquez.
Innovations and Challenges in Applied Linguistics from the Global South provides an original appraisal of the latest innovations and challenges in applied linguistics from the perspective of the Global South. Based on the reviewers’ recommendation, this volume has been shortlisted for the 2021 BAAL Book Prize.
Integrational Linguistics and Philosophy of Language in the Global South is a collection of papers presented at the 2019 conference held at Penn State, organized by Professor Sinfree Makoni, entitled “Integrationism and Philosophies of Language: Emerging Alternative Epistemologies in the Global North and Global South”.
Many congratulations to Dr. Makoni on two more well-received publications!
