Professional Bio
James Mutunga is an assistant professor of Biology and African Studies in the School of Science, Engineering and Technology at Penn State Harrisburg. He teaches courses in ecology and undertakes research that utilizes molecular biology and biochemistry approaches to understand arthropod pest and disease vector bionomics and control. He deploys a translational approach from discovery, through semi-field and field bioefficacy evaluation of novel pest and vector control strategies across epidemiological and ecological landscapes. His work integrates community practices and lived experiences to co-create climate-resilient solutions that are adaptable to local context and sustainable.
