Professional Bio
Before starting as a doctoral candidate at Penn State, Miriam taught Language Arts for 7 years to middle school students in Colorado and Louisiana. She received her bachelor’s in creative writing and her Master of Arts in Teaching ELA from Louisiana State University. She is interested in Black/African theories that forward projects of liberation, abolition, and decolonization in US educational contexts.
