Professional Bio
Bronwen Powell is an assistant professor of geography, African studies and anthropology (courtesy) at Penn State and a research associate with the Center for International Forestry Research. Her work examines the social, cultural and environmental determinants of human diet and nutrition. She has spent a large portion of her career living and working in Africa including in: Tanzania, Kenya, Morocco, Ethiopia and Burkina Faso. She holds a Ph.D. in human nutrition from McGill University in Canada and an MSc in ethnobiology from the Department of Anthropology at the University of Kent, in Canterbury, England.
